Investing in education, empowering futures.
At Kalon Afrika, we believe that access to education is not only a basic right — it’s one of the most powerful tools to break the cycle of poverty. For many children in Uganda, education remains out of reach due to financial hardship, unstable family situations, or lack of support. That’s why our Scholarship Program exists.
This is not just about paying school fees. It’s about empowering children to believe in their potential, offering them the opportunity to grow into changemakers in their own communities.
Our scholarship program is currently one of the main pillars of our organisation. By focusing our resources on education and skills development first, we’re building the foundations for long-term impact. From this strong starting point, we can grow into even broader support systems in the future.
Who We Support and How
We work directly within local communities — with schools, village leaders, and families — to identify children who are motivated to learn but lack the financial means. Each child’s story is unique, and we take personal circumstances into account when reviewing eligibility.
Currently (as of June 2025), we are supporting 12 children across different levels of education — a number we hope to increase as more funding becomes available.
What’s Included in the Support?
Our program covers much more than school fees. Based on each child’s situation, we aim to provide:
- Tuition fees for primary or secondary education
- Uniforms and school supplies (books, pens, backpacks, etc.)
- Meals at or after school when possible
- Basic healthcare and medicine, as education isn’t possible without good health
- Transport support for children who live far from school
This holistic approach allows students to attend school consistently, remain focused, and build their confidence.
Mentorship & Regular Follow-Up
While we’re still a small organisation, our team stays in close contact with the students and their families. We make home visits, listen to concerns, and try to guide them where needed. We believe in staying human, personal, and consistent — and this builds trust. Some of our students have already started sharing their learning with their peers or helping in the village, proving how education can multiply its impact.
A Bridge to the Future
We don’t stop at supporting children during school. We also want to help them look ahead: to further education, to meaningful employment, or to developing their own initiatives. Our dream is to see them grow into resilient, empowered individuals who will uplift others, just as they once received a helping hand.
By investing in their education now, we’re planting seeds that will continue to grow — within families, communities, and future generations.
How You Can Help
We depend on individuals, partners, and organisations who share our belief in education. Every donation — big or small — helps us continue this work.
- For €10 per month, you help keep one child in primary school
- For €20, you support school costs plus a basic medical and nutrition buffer
- For €30, you make an even larger difference — helping cover extra needs like exam fees, hygiene items, or transport
You can also make one-time donations, become a long-term sponsor, or even run a fundraiser in your own circle. All contributions go directly to the field and are handled transparently.
